Speed World Cup 2004
I finished third in the 2004 World Cup of Speed Skydiving, despite a no-score in the last competition of the year over Jumptown DZ in USA on August 27-29. Despite two good jumps, one at 437 km/h (about 272 mph) and one at 440 (about 273 mph), my OB spell continued and I ended up without a meet result yet again (see “4942-48” below). However, my results from France in May and England in June earned me the overall slot in 2004 behind Mark Calland of England and Arnold Hohenegger of Austria.
My logbook: 4949-54.

July 31. I'm leaving for Portugal today on a 2 week vacation with the family. Will probably not be able to update the speed page. One item that should've been published is that Arnold Hohenegger has published pics from Gryttjom. Link to those pictures are below. I'll be back on August 15.

Micke 007 Kaulanen signs autographs after the jump.Meija slept thru almost all of it...007 Kaulanen
For the opening show of the annual DN-Galan (athletics) in Stockholm on July 28, Micke Kaulanen tux'd up as Agent 007 and brought in the diamonds. The diamonds are awards for athletes who set stadium records. But why is this news on my page? Well, because Ann did a lot of the preparations for the jump and stayed on the stands with Meija while I did the com work with the plane on site, and picked up Micke's canopy and rig from the infield when he loaded the display case with his precious cargo.
By the way, Thorkildsen of Norway won the Javelin contest. Yeah!

The Swedish World Cup Event At Gryttjom
I finished last in the Speed Skydiving World Cup event over Gryttjom in Sweden on July 23-25. Actually, I didn't even get a meet result, so technically, I didn't even finish last. Anyway, I had good acceleration on all jumps but lost the fine balanse towards the end of the measured kilometer. The result was five OB's, one scoring jump and a nickname. I got 437 km/h on the one scoring jump and OB 5 KENOBI for the five others. I guess the g-force wasn't quite with me this time around. Nevertheless, I had a good time with a bunch of fine skydivers. OB is a technical term in speed skydiving and is short for "Out of Bounds". My Logbook: 4942-48.

Ian Bobo and Fredrik Erlandsson at the 2004 Gryttjom Swoop Camp.4914-30 On June 6-9, I was one of 12 participants on the Gryttjom Swoop Camp, and had a blast learning - at least theoretically - the tips and tricks of "hook turning & swooping" from some of the masters of Pro Swooping, Ian Bobo and Shannon Pilcher of the PD Factory Team.
